Do you want to be Physio Strong?

Chris Purcell
July 20, 2022

In 2022, we relaunched all of our exercise programs and brought them all under our “Physio Strong” umbrella.
Our Physio Strong exercise programs have been designed by our team to meet the varying needs of our patients and clients.  From extended rehabilitation following an injury to just helping clients to move more and be healthy, we have a program that is right for everyone.

Our programmes are taken exclusively by physiotherapists and this means that some form of private health insurance rebate is often available.  Another key advantage of our exercise programs is that being physiotherapy led, they are adaptable to injuries or functional limitations that you might be experiencing.  As experts in movement and mechanics, Physios are able to identify which exercises might need to be adapted or modified to avoid aggravation.   Proactively doing this, should mean that you can continue to exercise without flare ups of your conditions.

Below are some further descriptors for each of our programs.

Physio Strong Seniors
Previously known as our falls and balance class, this class is aimed to provide a safe and supportive environment for our seniors to exercise.  This class incorporates balance, strength, cardiovascular and stability exercises done in a gentle circuit style format.  This class is 60 minutes in duration which reduces time pressure on the stations and allows the intensity to be low.  But don’t be fooled, this class is not easy, but it is designed to be gentle.
Length: 60 mins

Physio Strong Bones
New to Out of the Box Physiotherapy in 2022, Physio Strong Bones has been designed to specifically help those patients concerned about their bone density (osteopenia or osteoporosis) to get the resistance training and loading that they need in a safe and effective way.  Done in a circuit format, this class will use time based stations to provide exercise intensity across a range of movements designed to load the body in such a way to assist with bone health.  Movements to expect (in some form) will be deadlifts, leg press, squats, push ups.  Another key component of bone health is falls prevention so this program will also incorporate balance and stability exercises as falls in patients with poor bone health can lead to catastrophic injuries.

To meet loading and exercise guidelines, it is our recommendation that this program be completed twice per week
Length: 45 mins

Physio Strong Circuit Class
Running since 2018, our physio strong circuit class provides an opportunity for you to get some exercise safely under the guidance of one of our physiotherapy team.  The format for this class is 10 exercise stations with the goal of giving the whole body a workout.   Programs for this class are written every 5 weeks to provide variety.  Generally speaking, this class is suitable for most levels of fitness and ability and stations can be modified to accommodate any current injuries or movement limitations.  The nature of this circuit class is such that it is you versus the clock, meaning that the intensity can be as hard or as gentle as you would like it to be.  Physio Strong Circuit is a popular choice for those people wanting to restart an exercise routine but are not ready or wanting to go to a commercial gym.
Length: 45mins

Physio Strong Individual
Personalised, bespoke and specific.  This program has been designed for those people that need higher level care or supervision or those that would prefer to exercise in a more private environment with a program that has been written exclusively for them.  Physio Strong Individual is a great option as an extension to post operative rehabilitation as a personalised and targeted program can be developed.  The individual nature of programming on this program also means we can help with any range of conditions such as chronic lower back pain, lifestyle diseases such as diabetes and obesity.  Physio is present for the duration of this session and will help you to execute your program correctly and safely.

An initial consultation and assessment must be completed before commencing this program (not required if you are currently attending for treatment and moving to this program).  In many cases, if you have been referred via a medicare chronic disease management plan, it can be used for these sessions following your initial assessment.
Length: 30-45 mins depending on program

If you have any questions or would like any further information on any of our exercise programs then please get in touch via our contact page or call our team on 07 3822 8879.  If you are not sure where to start or what type of exercise program you should be doing then book in for a consultation with one of our physio team where we can do an assessment and provide you with options based on your goals.
